Westport is the premier destination for fishing enthusiasts, as Clew Bay is renowned as one of Europe's top best sea angling grounds. Its relatively calm inshore waters and diverse marine life make it ideal for both novice and experienced anglers. Expect to find ray, cod, pollock, ling, whiting, turbot, bull huss, monkfish, dogfish, coalfish and the occasional tope. During July & August, blue sharks are also present in the deeper waters west of Clare Island.
