EVENTS THIS JULY 2025
- Gracie's Summer Series - BBQ & Beats Weekends: Every Saturday & Sunday, enjoy a gourmet BBQ served from 12pm to 9pm at Gracy's Pizzeria at Westport Estate (F28 K6K6). This event includes DJ from 1pm to 5pm and a one-man band live from 6pm to 8pm. No reservations needed!
- Achill Half Marathon & 10K (5th): 20th anniversary of this annual event, starting and ending at Keel Sandybanks
- Drag me to Bingo (11th): Enjoy a evening with a show of fabulous drag queens, take part in some Bing and relax with delicious cocktails. Show includes costumes change, celebrity impersanations, parodies, fun games for the audience and lots more. Start @8pm in the Clock Tavern, Westport.
- Happy Hiking - Hill Skills Day - Achill Island (20th): Throughout the day, learn about movement skills, basic navigation, map reading, equipment and safety considerations. Organised by Mountaineering Ireland, this day is a great oportunity for anyone new to the hills or those who want to learn even more. Join a qualified instructor to gain useful informoation and skills that will help keep you safe on the hills.
- Ballinrobe Racecourse -Family Day (21st): A 2-day event with first race starting @5.30pm and last one @8.30pm. It's also a family day so be ready for a line-up of free activities from face painting and giant games to a giant tractor & boucy castle and with a playground on site there is plenty to keep the children entertained (free u14)
- Ballinrobe Racecourse - Mike Denver Race Dance (22nd): Second day of this exciting summer meeting featuring an evening of National Hunt racing followed by the highlight of the season the "Mike Denver Race Dance", an unforgettable live performance by Mike Denver in the Mask Pavillon. First race start @5.12pm and last one @8.12pm.
- Grow Remote (26th July): From zoom to ziplines, join other remote workers and share experiences and strenghten your local netweork. Perfect opportunity to engage with like-minded professionals and exchange ideas all while having fun at Westport Adventure Park. Event start @11am
- Reek Sunday (27th): The annual pilgrimage takes place every year on the last Sunday in July where thousands of people from all around the world come to Mayo to climb the country's Holiest Mountain, known as Croagh Patrick or The Reek.
- Mayo international Kite Festival - Achill Island (27th): Professional and amateur kite enthusiasts gather in Keel for this annual spectacular event from 1pm to 5pm.
- Scoil Acla - Achill Island (27th-31st): Achil's famous summer school of traditional music, dance, arts and culture event. Will end on the 2nd of August.
NATURE IN FULL BLOOM
In July, the natural beauty surrounding Knockranny House Hotel comes into its own. The days are long and mild, with ana average temperatures hovering between 15°C and 20°C, making it a perfect time for hiking, walking and outdoor relaxation. The iconic Croagh Patrick, just a short drive from the hotel, sees thousands of pilgrims and walkers attempt its summit.

The Wild Atlantic Way is also at its most photogenic. From the windswept coastlines of Achill Island to the golden sands of Bertra Beach and the rolling hills of the Nephin Beg range, there is no shortage of scenic routes for walkers, cyclists or photographers. July is also a great time to explore the Great Western Greenway, a 42km off-road cycling and walking trail.
