A LEGACY BUILT ON LEGEND
At the heart of Westport Estate lies Westport House, a stately 18th-century mansion built on the foundations of a castle once owned by the legendary Pirate Queen, Grace O'Malley. The Browne family, her dirtect descendants, constructed the house in the 1730s, and it remained in their care for nearly 400 years.

THE GRACE HOTEL- A TRIBUTE TO TWO ICONS
As part of the estate's ongoing transformation, The Grace is an exciting new development, with a modern and engaging approach. Scheduled to open early 2026, this luxury hotel will replace the historic Hotel Westport, which has been a cherished part of the community since 1971.
The Grace is inspired by two legendary women with ties to Mayo, Grace O'Malley, Pirate Queen of Ireland and Grace Kelly, Princess of Monaco and oscar-winning Hollywood actress.

A NEW ERA FOR FAMILIES AND OUTDOOR EXPLORERS
Westport Estate is not just about history. In early 2021, the estate commenced its transformative €75 million redevelopment with completion expected by 2027. The ambitious plans include the restoration of Westport House, the creation of new gardens and the introduction of immersive attractions like the Grace O'Malley Experience and the Eartharium, a unique storytelling space connected by elevated walkways through the estate's natural landscape.
In 2024, the estate unveiled Westport Adventure Park, offering a dynamic outdoor experience for families and thrill-seekeers. Highlights include Ireland's largest Net Park, dual 100m zip lines, high ropes courses and a giant swing with views of Clew Bay and Croagh Patrick. For younger children, there are bounce zones, treehouses, a gaming zone and sensory trails.

SEASONAL MAGIC ON THE ESTATE
Westport Estate comes alive during the festive season with its renowned Christmas Experience. The Coach House and grounds transform into a Winter Wonderland, complete with Santa's Grotto in Tinsel Town, the Wonderland Express Train and a host of activities including storytelling with Mrs. Claus, decoration making and visits to the elves' village. Guests can also enjoy toasted marshmallows, hot chocolate and mulled wine amidst the enchanting decorations. It is the highlight of the Winter season in Mayo.
