Irish Independent Review March 2007
Independent Review February 2007
Knockranny House Hotel’s restaurant, La Fougere, received a very favourable review last week from The Fine Wine and Food Guide, which is a monthly supplement of the Irish Independent.
In her article entitled “Room with a View – Decadence and Luxury in Knockranny House”, journalist Kate Hickey, who visited the hotel unannounced last month, was impressed by the “antique furniture, roaring fires and gargantuan floral arrangements” that greeted her in the foyer on arrival. She described the restaurant itself as “exquisite”, while she felt the staff and service were “fantastic” and the fact that the dining room was full on a Monday night in January a clear sign of its popularity.
Her description of the meal she and her dining partner enjoyed was described in equally glowing terms, with phrases such as “wonderfully flavoursome”, “well balanced”, “perfectly flavoured” and “beautifully tender and succulent” sprinkled liberally throughout her article. She particularly liked the menu’s focus on seafood and found her sea bass main course “delicious, crispy and moist”, before going on to give the service and value for money the maximum available five star rating.
Knockranny House Hotel’s owners, Adrian and Geraldine Noonan, were delighted: “This is excellent recognition for the hotel and our kitchen and restaurant teams in particular. We recently added more than forty new rooms and suites and were very anxious that the levels of service and cuisine in all areas of the hotel would be maintained and improved upon in the ensuing transition period. Reviews of this nature are therefore very welcome and a credit to our staff.”
Knockranny House Hotel’s Spa Salveo and new rooms will be featured in RTE’s flagship travel show, “No Frontiers” on Tuesday 27th February at 8.30pm.
